Gutter Basics

Rain, leaves, snow, branches, when they gather in your gutters, they can damage your home. For every inch of rain, your roof accumulates about 60 gallons of water per 100 square feet. Without gutters, that water goes directly to the ground at or close to your foundation. That can do thousands of dollars’ worth of damage to your home’s foundation and your landscaping.

That is why it is vital to not only have gutters, but to have the best ones for your structure, installed and maintained by professionals.

When it comes to gutter installation on a commercial building, it is never too early to call in a professional. Whether you are building a new location, moving your business or looking to repair an existing commercial site, a guttering professional should be a part of your contracting crew.

Residential versus Commercial

While guttering may do the same job on your home as it does on a commercial building, there can be many differences when it comes to deciding what to use and how to install it.

Commercial buildings can be vastly different from homes when it comes to structural differences and what you are trying to accomplish when it comes to guttering.

What are some basic differences?

Style: Commercial buildings are generally larger and quite often have flat roofs as compared to homes. K-style gutters may offer the best protection for some facilities, while box gutters are better for many larger buildings. Our professionals can advise you which will work best for you depending on your buildings dimensions, design and location.

Size: Again, because commercial sites are usually larger, the gutters protecting them need to be bigger to accommodate more rain, snow and debris.

Materials: Not all gutters are made alike. Cost-efficiency is always a consideration, and we will ensure that you are getting the best system for your budget. Aluminum, steel and copper are each options with aluminum and steel generally providing the most price friendly options.

Installation: While we are talking about the materials, we also will work out what the best installation process will be. Box gutters require seams; aluminum gutters work better seamless; our team will be able to design a plan that works for your building, budget and timeframe.

Codes and regulations: City, county and state regulations can be complicated and change over time when it comes to what is allowed on commercial buildings. We stay updated and know where to find the latest rules so we can assist you in choosing a system that looks good, performs well, and keeps you in line with the law.

We install only the highest quality seamless aluminum guttering systems in both 5 inch and 6 inch sizes on residential homes and apartment complexes. Our top-of-the-line guttering systems come in a wide variety of colors and styles to compliment the look of your home.

Our gutter installation process begins with a plan.

  1. We will inspect your home to determine what is needed.
    • Soffit and fascia: We will check to make sure both are in good condition or whether you need those replaced in addition to the guttering. Soffit, fascia and gutters all work together to protect your home and make it look its best.
    • Downspouts: Our experts will count the number of downspouts you have now and determine if you need more. We will pick out the correct size for the shape of your home and roof and then locate them in the right spots.
    • Slope of your gutters: Gutters need to be sloped so water does not accumulate. Exact measurements are taken during the final installation.
    • Need for roof hanger mounting: For roofs without fascia boards, or if they are not vertical, we will use roof hanger mounting straps to install the gutters.
  2. We will put together a custom quote. Once we have determined your needs, we will put together an estimate with our recommended products and services. Once the work is agreed upon we will schedule a time to do your installation.
  3. We will get the job done. Our experienced professionals will build your seamless gutters onsite and complete the installation based on the agreed upon scope of work. Our work is built to last, but if you have a problem in the future, you do not have to worry - we have been serving the Kansas City area for more than 44 years, and we will be around for at least 44 more!
